Many years ago, Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares published a series of police works. It was known as the "El Séptimo Circulo" Collection and LA NACION published them again in Buenos Aires.
One of those works is Laura. What does the novel hold? Laura de Vera Caspary is much more than a dark-cut detective novel. Laura is one of the first and most detailed analyzes of a femicide and the mentality of her femicide.
Vera Caspary was born in Illinois in 1904 and died in 1987. Since she was very young she started working. She was the editor of a newspaper and sold everything from facial creams to automatic packaging machines. Over the years he wrote disturbing detective novels such as Bedelia and Stranger than Truth. Laura is one of them. In its 269 pages we will explore the origins of black cinema and, above all, we will see a modern psychological approach to a femicide written in the 20th century and that in the 21st century explains its validity. Do not hesitate to look for this work and read it. You can find it in any public library.
